We are looking for up to 12 individuals who have a passion for the outdoors and/or working with children and young people for a course starting on 8th February 2010

Participants will be working with us between 20-35 hours/week, spending around half their time training and half their time hands-on teaching outdoor pursuits to children and young people with and without special needs. They need to be available to work some evenings and weekends. For those who are interested, there is the opportunity to participate in an overseas residential challenge.

Participants will be aiming to gain the Level 2 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership and activity specific qualifications. Participants will be learning to run activities such as bushcraft, climbing and kayaking as well as gaining skills in group leadership, team work and activity management.

Previous participants have been successful in gaining employment following the course in a range of careers including coaching, outdoor pursuit leadership and management, work in special needs and teaching.

Participants need no experience as all training is provided. This in a voluntary course and AU are unable to pay the people taking part, although training and qualifications are free.

Anyone who wants to take part will need to attend a taster day in January.

For more information on the course, check the eligibility criteria and to book a place on the taster day please download the introduction letter for trainees, click here to email Bob (Training Manager) or call him on 01273 681058.
